THE BEATLES: THE NIGHT THAT CHANGED AMERICA - A GRAMMY SALUTE

In a show that featured Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr, Jeff Lynne was one of an amazing array of musicians that took part in this very special tribute that commemorated the 50th anniversary of The Beatles first appearance on US television on the Ed Sullivan Show.

The concert was filmed on January 27th at the Los Angeles Convention Centre's West Hall and was first aired in the US on CBS on February 9th, which was the same date The Beatles appeared on the Ed Sullivan Show in 1964.

Joe Walsh and Dhani Harrison joined Jeff on stage where he sang an exquisite version of Something, and he later joined forces with Dave Grohl (Foo Fighters) to perform a rocking version of Hey Bulldog!

Hopefully the concert special will be released sometime this year.

A MESSAGE FROM JEFF:

"I felt very honoured to be performing in this tribute to the Beatles. What a great thing! I get to play with some of the greatest musicians and do Beatles numbers on the telly! I must say it was a lot of fun. Don Was has got a great band together and he really helped drive it along with his terrific bass playing. I hope the show's as good as I hope it is!

Love from Jeff"

BIRMINGHAM HUSTLE!

Four Jeff Lynne songs feature in David O. Russell’s new movie American Hustle...

The original movie soundtrack was released on iTunes in December 2013 and includes Electric Light Orchestra's 10538 Overture and Long Black Road plus Stream of Stars, a brand new Shadows inspired instrumental by Jeff Lynne!

The fourth Jeff Lynne track that didn't make it onto the album is a brand new recording of Claude Debussy's beautiful Clair de Lune from the Suite Bergamasque.

You can listen to Stream of Stars by clicking on this link!

The Sony Legacy soundtrack also features songs by Elton John, America, Wings, The Bee Gees and Tom Jones and is available now on both CD and digital download.

CHILDREN IN NEED ROCKS TO JEFF LYNNE... AND RICHARD TANDY!

Children in Need Rocks - 2013 was organised by Gary Barlow (Take That) as one of a series of events to raise money for the BBC's Children in Need 2013 Charity.

The concert event was held over two nights at London's Hammersmith Apollo on November 12 and 13 and featured a wonderful and varied array of artists such as Gary Barlow, Keane, Madness, Agnetha (ABBA), Robbie Williams, Kings of Leon, Barry Manilow, Ellie Gouldin, Dizzee Rascal, Nicole Scherzinger, Little Mix, Tom Odell, Rizzle Kicks, Bastille, the Lumineers, Passenger and The Wanted.

However, and without a shadow of a doubt, the highlight of the whole event was the surprise guest who closed the show on the first night... None other than Jeff Lynne!

Jeff was joined on stage with Richard Tandy and they were backed by a tremendous ten piece band along with Gareth Malone and his choir. They performed Livin' Thing and topped the evening off with a joyous, and perhaps one of the best live performances of Mr Blue Sky you will ever see, complete with the outro!

Video of Jeff and Richard's performance can be seen HERE.

A SPECIAL MESSAGE FROM JEFF TO THE FANS...

"Hi, this is Jeff Lynne, and I’ve got a bit of news for you!

To anyone who has been waiting for me to release some new recordings…thanks for waiting, you’re the best.

I know it’s been way too long again, but I’m hoping you’ll think it was worth the wait. I have two new albums and some other surprises coming shortly! It’s true, honestly. (I’m not kidding.) Really!

Both are very unusual and I’m excited to share them with you. It was a real pleasure to work on these projects. They may have taken a few years to complete, but I can tell you it was some of the best musical fun I’ve ever had.

Stay tuned."

Jeff Lynne, July 27, 2012
